Trying special key characters to work is pretty anoying in a normal us keyboard layout. Specially on Mac. And nowadays only Linux gives us the layout with AltGr dead-keys. This setup will let you type characters like á Á ñ í ó ø.
For Mac:
Follow the instructions on this repository.
Update April 2026: Got a Mac Air M5, no problems on Tahoe 26.4.1.
For Windows:
This was a really difficult layout to find. Go to this Google Archive and download the lastest version (v1.4). Then just install the layout.
For Linux:
Just use the integrated US altgr-intl layout :).
**Making it work with Alacritty and Neovim
Since I mostly work with these tools, I still cannot type special characters, at least on cli and INSERT mode on Neovim. I’ll update this post and add the working setup below, dw.
